Whitney O'Neal



Dr. Whitney O’Neal is the part-time music teacher at Forest Hills Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education with University Honors from Arkansas State University (2006), a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Alabama (2009), and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Flute Performance and Musicology from the University of Alabama (2012).

She has performed with numerous ensembles including the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, UA Contemporary Ensemble, Delta Symphony Orchestra, and Shoals Symphony Orchestra. Developed from the love of chamber music, the Delta Duo was founded by O’Neal and harpist Sarah Crocker in 2008. The duo can frequently be seen in concert, having recently performed in recital at the 2011 and 2012 Kentucky Flute Festival, 2012 Mid-South Flute Festival, and the prestigious Second Saturday at Two Concert Series at St. James Chapel in Chicago.

Dr. O’Neal has previously held positions at Stillman College and Mississippi State University. In addition to her teaching at Forest HIls, she is currently the Flute Instructor at the University of North Alabama.
